Garhwal Kingdom was a princely state in north-western Uttarakhand, India, ruled by the rajput (Shah) dynasty. It was founded in 888 AD and existed until it was annexed by the Nepalese in 1803. Thereafter post Anglo-Nepalese War and the Sugauli Treaty of 1815, the Kingdom was restored, with the formation of a smaller Tehri Garhwal state.
